Sprint And Orb Networks Announce The Immediate Availability Of Sprint Personal Media Link(sm)
EMERYVILLE, Calif., April 25, 2005 - Orb Networks, Inc., a developer of streaming media software and services, and Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced immediate availability of a free, new service that enables Sprint local wireline telephone customers subscribing to Sprint high-speed Internet to remotely access their digital home media through high-speed broadband. This new service, Sprint Personal Media LinkSM, powered by Orb, gives these consumers the ability to access digital content on a home personal computer with Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition XP from virtually anywhere in the world via a laptop computer or wireless device.
Sprint Personal Media Link was introduced to give consumers an easy way to integrate remote services and entertainment into their everyday lives. By leveraging Orb, customers will now be able to enjoy their digital content beyond the home network.
Sprint intends to initially roll out the Sprint Personal Media Link service through its consumer Web site at http://local.sprint.com/home/local/dsl/DSL_home.html, and the service will also become part of the Sprint high-speed Internet customer enrollment.
